Taking a Fun Break!

I've been trying to work out the logistics of a mosaics project and it feels like its taking forever, going in circles, and costing endless amounts of money. This card was a welcome chance to have fun, from start to finish in one go. Yay! Now back to the mosaics...

Happy B-day C, #2

Btw, I figured out who gets which card: the first happy bday c card is going to my sister, chaya. its brown and long and will nicely fit the bar of chocolate i want to tuck inside it. (if you remember, a few weeks ago i made a card for my sister, Brocha, and sent some chocolate with it. my family practically lives on chocolate and books, but these two sisters happen to be in places where good kosher chocolate isnt readily available.) the blue and purple flowery one will go to my favorite oldest sister-in-law (can you tell why is flattered by that? ;)), Chanie, who's birthday is next month, as the colors and girly prettiness match her personality. Today's card will go to my friend, Chanie (all three have names that are popular in the community, and the ch is pronounced like loch), and I can imagine her choosing itmes in these colors if she were shopping. Let's hope my predictions are correct!

Birthday Card- Even Better!

A few weeks ago I made a card for my sister Brocha and I was pleasantly surprised when it came out exactly as I wanted it to. This one was an even bigger surprise as it's even prettier than I thought it would be! Woohoo!
It's interesting how I planned on using certain items and techniques and as I was working on the card other ideas came to me or just made sense and really enhanced the card. Also, although you cant really tell from the picture, i diluted a tiny bit of shimmerz with water and then sprayed it on the central flower for a subtle sparkly effect.

Happy B-day C!

This will go to either my sister Chaya, or my friend Chanie, depending on how my second card comes out.

Merry Chanukah WCMd

You can't really tell in the picture but my wink of stella marker (prob one of my favorite craft supplies!) made the word merry really twinkly. i meant to add more light gray to the bottom half of the candles with a marker but i forgot- hopefully someone at papercrafts will do it for me. rather than trying to fit the panel on a folded paper i tied to a backing paper, so there's room to write a personal message but its not a huge, awkward size. happy holidays to all!

I Love You WCMday

You know those cards that are fairly straight forward in your mind but just arent working out on paper? And you keep adding more and more and more stuff just to try to get it to look decent? This is one of those. At least I brought it to the point where I dont feel bad for the person who chooses to use this card! And it was a good learning experience and I got to play with a lot of my supplies :)

Yisroel Chaim, Completed

So here's the completed gift for my friends and their son:

He's holding on to his kippa (skullcap) and tzitzit, which he began formally wearing every day on his third birthday. (Links with more info are available in the original post.) He has since had his haircut and he looks adorable- a little boy with a pudgy baby face :). Mazel tov!

Have a Good, Sweet New Year!

Tonight, Sunday September 16 2012, is the onset of Rosh Hashana, the Jewish New Year.
Traditionally, we wish each other a good, sweet new year. Why isn’t good good enough?
Everything in this world is from G-d and G-d only does and gives good. We pray that it be sweet, too, that we “taste” the sweet goodness. Here's to a good, sweet for all of us, including the ultimate sweetness, with the revelation of Moshiach (the Jewish Messiah) now!

The Rebbe (the Chasidic leader of our community and, in truth, the whole world) distributes lekach, honey cake, before Rosh Hashana

Mazel Tov Y & M!

I hung this on my cousin's new apartment door, to share in the excitement as she and her new hubby came home from their wedding. The Hebrew words spell mazel tov, generally meant as "congrats".

As a bonus, I also got this little piece, to be used for something else. It was supposed to go on the door sign but i had to tone down its "girliness".

Yisroel Chaim

This is for my friend's son, Yisroel Chaim, as the Hebrew letters spell out, for his third birthday on Thursday, G-d willing, when he will have his first haircut party (more info here). In the center I hope to put a picture of him, I'm just not sure yet of the frame.

Mazel Tov Levi & Faygie!

My brother just got married (as I’m sure most of you know by now) and I didn’t want him and his bride to just come home to their boring, overpriced rental apartment, with no sign of excitement. This simple sign says mazel tov, Hebrew for (lit. good luck) congratulations.

http://simplylessismoore.blogspot.com/ 1 background paper, 2 main coloring mediums, 3 flowers. I’m glad this challenged forced me to think of these elements bec. either the sign would have been boring or I would have spent forever trying to think up ways to make it interesting
